A Midsummer Night's Dream

Date: Friday, October 11, 2019

Showtime: 7:30 PM

Whitworth Theatre will stage its fall production, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” Oct. 11-13 at the Bing Crosby Theater in downtown Spokane, as Whitworth’s main stage inside Cowles Memorial Auditorium undergoes renovation.

The actors are thrilled to open the season with William Shakespeare’s famous play. “Lord, what fools these mortals be!” On a midsummer’s eve, four love-struck teenagers and a troupe of bumbling actors wander into the midst of a dispute between the king and queen of the fairies. In this beloved comedy, Shakespeare employs his poetry and prose in an enchanting and hilarious examination of love.

The staging and design of the show will tie directly into the history of the Bing, formerly the Clemmer Theatre, and its origins as a silent film house in the early 1900s.
