SPR Goes to the Movies: Yellow Submarine

Date: Wednesday, August 8, 2018

Showtime: 6:30 PM Taping of Movies 101 | Film 7:30 PM

Price: $17.34 All ages.

Spokane Public Radio will host an exclusive showing of Yellow Submarine on Wednesday, August 8 at the Bing Crosby Theatrer. This special evening begins with a live taping of Movies 101 at 6:30pm before the film begins at 7:30pm.

Debuting in 1968, Yellow Submarine perfectly encapsulates the new art trends of the 60’s. The fantastical animated tale overflows with peace, love, and hope, packed to the brim with Beatles songs such as “All You Need is Love” and “When I’m Sixty-Four.” The songs and score have been remixed in 5.1 stereo surround sound at Abbey Road Studios, and the artwork was cleaned up carefully by hand, frame-by-frame. You won’t want to miss your chance to see it on the big screen!

Before the show, Dan Webster, Mary Pat Treuthart, and Nathan Weinbender will discuss the film as well as its influences and impacts in a live recording of Movies 101. Between the taping and the movie, 4000 Holes will have an amazing display of Yellow Submarine and Beatles memorabilia.
