The joyous romp that is the National Theatre production of Twelfth Night is the most fun you're ever likely to have at a Shakespeare play. And in the current climate of gender fluidity, it is perhaps inevitable that there would be some unorthodox casting of this classic comedy of mistaken identities and wayward romance.

Tamsin Greig, the comedic powerhouse star of the tv series "Episodes", transforms Malvolio, the uptight steward of the noblewoman Olivia's household, into lovelorn housekeeper Malvolia, hopelessly pining for her mistress, Olivia.

Shipwrecked Viola searches for her twin brother amid the madcap population of the island of Illyria. She tucks her hair up under a cap and takes on the persona of a young man, attaching herself to the household of the Duke Orsino. As she becomes secretly smitten with her new employer, he, seeing only a usefully willing young lad, sends her off to woo Olivia for him. Olivia is intrigued by this brash emissary of the Count, and promptly falls in love with him/her. Thus begins the romantic game of "Who's on First" that provides the plot for this rollicking comedy.

As the characters revolve around each other in a lovelorn dance of passion and unrequited love, so does the giant staircase on the big onstage turntable, revealing as it turns each place where the characters discover the almost never ending facets of love.

This production, directed with unflagging energy and inventiveness by Simon Godwin, will be screened at the Bing Theatre Sunday May 21 at 2:00 PM. Doors open at 1:00 PM. Tickets for adults are $13 online and $15 at the door. Students are $7 online and $9 at the door. Member pricing is available for this show!
